Artist Statement: Glimpse of Reality
In a world where the artificial has become second nature, humanity drifts further from its natural essence. For me, art is a pursuit of truth—not to capture it fully, but to offer glimpses that challenge the processed realities of modern life. Surrounded by curated images and narratives shaped by capitalism and consumerism, we are conditioned to accept polished facades. My work seeks to disrupt this surface and reveal raw, unfiltered moments that invite reflection on human experiences and existence. Drawing from Heidegger’s philosophy, I see art as a way to expose hidden truths and provoke a deeper connection with reality.
Acknowledging the paradox of creating as and for societal constructed mind, I aim not to depict reality in its purest form but to amplify its overlooked aspects. Exaggeration and imperfection become tools to reveal the fragility and transformation inherent in human existence. With a background in fashion design, my work often centers on the body and its relationship to time and environment. Projects like Rustic Womb explore themes of duality, such as pregnancy’s power and pain, through raw materials and visceral imagery.
My practice also ventures into abstraction, where emotion and sensation take precedence over recognizable forms. In works like Construction, inspired by experimental music, I translate sound into texture and rhythm into form, creating pieces that evoke shared, subconscious resonance. This improvisational approach allows me to bypass conditioned perceptions and invite the audience into a space where unprocessed truths can emerge.
Through traditional methods like painting and contemporary mediums such as digital art, I explore impermanence and transformation. In my project Mitosis, I deconstruct the fluid, ever-changing nature of identity, challenging the notion of self as fixed. My goal is to foster a moment of connection—to make the unseen visible and the intangible felt. I hope to create a space where viewers can confront the veiled realities of their lives. These glimpses of reality, however fleeting, are what make art powerful and essential.
