RUSTIC WOMB
Rustic Womb is a conceptual fashion piece inspired by late 1990s fashion and the portrayal of the brutalized body, reflecting women’s social anxieties. Influenced by Alexander McQueen and Rei Kawakubo, I explore the duality of pregnancy as both powerful and painful. The dress, constructed from half-transparent fabrics and messy threads, is deliberately cut open from the upper belly to the bottom, symbolizing a C-section. Rust dye forms patterns reminiscent of wounds, confronting the viewer with the raw and multifaceted nature of pregnancy and the female body. This work challenges the idealized notion of timeless perfection and instead celebrates the aftermath of time, as a vital part of human experiences. In the accompanying photoshoot, a blurred face concealed by lace emphasizes the universal aspect of this experience, embodying the collective realities of birth and motherhood.
